Introduction
I did the one for hitters before (2009 Fantasy Baseball Projections: Part I), so this one is for SP. It is my rankings for the '09 season and why, along with projected stats. Tell me what you think!
CC Sabathia
CC Sabathia
Cole Hamels
Tim Lincecum
Brandon Webb
Johan Santana
Jake Peavy
STARTING PITCHERS

(Ks / Wins / ERA / WHIP)

1. Johan Santana 221 / 21 / 2.98 / 1.06
why: The leagues top pitcher in '08 will remain in '09. Where ever he ends up, he will get a ton of wins since it will probably be a contender. His Ks will be high while his ERA and WHIP will be among the league leaders. He will not lose as tep and stay unbelievable.

2. Jake Peavy 231 / 16 / 2.89 / 1.03
why: The '07 CY Young Award winner has proven he can win, even with horrible run support on a bad team. He will be tops in the NL in Ks, ERA and WHIP, but the wins may not be on par with the other big names while pitching for SanDiego.

3. Cole Hamels 217 / 21 / 3.07 / 1.08
why: A phenomenal young talent, Hamels has no where to go but up, and his wins almost certainly will pitching for the potent Phillies offense. Look for the kid to rise to a strike out king and possibly challenge the league leaders in the categorie along with posting very good ERA and WHIP.

4. Tim Lincecum 256 / 17 / 2.97 / 1.14
why: The "Freak" can pitch like no one else, both in his delivery and his incredible strike out rate. Look for the league leader in Ks, with super ERA and WHIP and good wins. If the Giants give him some better run support, he could easily be the top SP and get 20 + wins.

5. CC Sabathia 219 / 19 / 3.16 / 1/19
why: Out of Cleveland in '08, Sabathia wil have a better chance of winning his share of games. His value will increase as he will be signed by a contender. No matter what big name tea mlands him, he will put up great all around numbers.

6. Brandon Webb 196 / 20 / 3.02 / 1.15
why: He is a pitcher that probably won't lead the league in any single category, but he is consistantly in the top 5 or so in every one. He will get good wins if the Diamand Backs are hitting well and he will post good numbers in the ERA and WHIP colums. He might not reach 200 Ks, but he will be close.

7. Dan Haren 191 / 19 / 3.01 / 0.99
why: As with Brandon Webb, he will get his share of wins pitching for the Diomand Backs, who play in a weak division. He will be among the league leaders in both ERA and WHIP. Again, he may not lead the league in Ks, but he will post good amounts while nearly reaching 200.

8. Scott Kazmir 249 / 19 / 3.20 / 1.20
why: The young lefty has the stuff t obe a future number one fantasy king. He will be tops in the MLB in Ks and pitching for the Rays will get him plenty of wins (some thing I would not have said a year ago!) his ERA and WHIP won't be league leading but they are very respectable.

9. Felix Hernandez 194 / 16 / 2.97 / 1.21
why: A developing ace, the young King Felix will get robbed of a higher rank by his team, the Seattle Mariners. He could easily reach the 20 wins mark if he stays healthy a whole season and gets run support. His Ks will be good along with his WHIP while his ERA will be great.

10. Josh Beckett 199 / 19 / 3.31 / 1.22
why:Beckett, a prove nstar, will again be a fantasy ace. There is no reason the xpect a rise or fall in his stats, so expect the norm. His Ks will be good, and the Sox offense should provide him more than enough run support to come close to 20 wins. His ERA and WHIP will rise a slight bit as his '07 numbers will be hard to repeat.

11. Roy Halladay 171 / 18 / 3.19 / 1.09
why: Halladay will again lead the league in CG. He won't lead in Ks, but WHIP is a real strength of his. He will get plenty of wins, even pitching for the Blue Jays. The ERA will be very good as well. The former CY Young winner won't lose a step.

12. Ben Sheets 188 / 17 / 3.51 / 1.20
why: He will almost certainly test the FA market after '08, and will very likely land with a contender who will better suit him. With run support and his skills, 20 wins is a possibility along with 200 Ks if he is outstanding.

13. Erik Bedard 212 / 14 / 3.26 / 1.23
why: he was incredible with Baltimore, and a trade to Seattle only increase his value before the '08 season. But he has dissapointed so far, and is now drwing trade interst and rumors. If he gets traded to a better team, his wins will increasea nd the rest should stay the same. His value would rise.

14. John Lackey 177 / 17 / 3.12 / 1.20
why: When he is on, he is lights out. If he can stay healthy unlike the beginnig of '08, for a full season he could contend for the AL CY Young Award. He will not lead the league in any category most likely, but is decent in each and and every one.

15. Carlos Zambrano 199 / 18 / 3.70 / 1.23
why: The Cubs will give Zambrano the run support needed to win a bunch of games. He could get to 200 Ks as well if he stays healthy. However, his WHIP is decent while his ERA is high and neither can compare the league leaders.

RISING: James Sheilds, Joba Chamberlain, Matt Cain, Cliff Lee, Edinson Volquez

FALLING: Roy Oswalt, John Smolts,

JUST MISSED THE LIST: Rich Harden, Justin Verlander, Aaron Harang,

A FEW SLEEPERS: Yovani Gallardo, Chien Ming Wang

tell me if you think I missed some one or dissagree. Thanks!

OfflineChiefsfan123888 says .. on 16/7/08 Santana is NOT the top pitcher in '08. Halladay, Lincecum, and Hernandez will all be the top ones in '09. Plu,s Zack Greinke would have 10-12 wins if he was on a better offensive team.
OfflineYankeeJAK says .. on 16/7/08 ok. i think he still will buy Lincecum easily could be but he is pitching for the Giants. Halladay is always good but he is always hurt. He could move up if it weren't for that. Grienke , what about him? Do you think I should add him somewhere? thanks!
