	Bailey is expected to be healthy for the Athletics' season opener against Seattle on April 5, according to the team's official Web site. Bailey, the reigning AL Rookie of the Year, has been hampered by tennis elbow. If he's healthy he should be a solid fantasy contributor.

	Jackson might be the Diamondbacks' No. 2 hitter, according to manager A.J. Hinch in the Arizona Republic. The left fielder struggled with injuries last season, and hit .182 with one homer and 14 RBIs. Moving into the No. 2 spot in the order should see an increase in his production, if he can stay healthy.

	Dukes has been released by the Washington Nationals, a sudden move with about two weeks left in spring training. The 25-year-old Dukes had been expected to be Washington's starting right fielder. He hit .242 with 31 homers and 123 RBIs in three seasons with Tampa Bay and Washington. He was limited to 188 games with the Nationals the past two seasons because of injuries.

	Street felt discomfort in his right shoulder and will undergo an MRI. Street has been hampered by inflammation in his pitching shoulder and has yet to throw in an exhibition. He threw about 25 pitches Monday and said afterward that his arm "felt great" but felt discomfort during his throwing session the next day. Street signed a $22.5 million, three-year deal in January after saving 35 of 37 games for the Rockies last season.

	The Diamondbacks agreed to terms with pitcher Kris Benson on a minor league contract Wednesday. The right-hander has compiled a 69-74 record with a 4.41 ERA over eight seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles and Texas Rangers. The Pirates selected him No. 1 overall in the 1996 first-year player draft. Benson missed the entire 2007 season after having rotator cuff surgery on his right shoulder. He signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in February 2008 and went 1-4 with a 5.52 ERA in 11 starts at Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

	The Cleveland Indians have claimed infielder Anderson Hernandez off waivers from the New York Mets. Hernandez spent last season with the Mets and Washington Nationals. The 27-year-old hit a combined .251 with three homers and 37 RBIs in 123 games. He started 57 games at second base for the Nationals before he was traded to the Mets on Aug. 6. Hernandez is a .245 hitter in 186 career games. He was originally signed by Detroit in 2001.

	Lowrie has mononucleosis. Lowrie has not played since March 11 and had been feeling fatigued. He went for tests this week. Lowrie was Boston's opening-day shortstop last season but got off to a 1-for-18 start at the plate after playing with an injured left wrist for much of the second half of the 2008 season, He had surgery April 21, nine days after going on the disabled list, and didn't return to the Red Sox until July 18.

	Lilly could be back well before May 1 that had been mentioned often by manager Lou Piniella. Lilly had offseason shoulder surgery. Lilly is scheduled to pitch batting practice Thursday and then again a few days later. He'd then work a simulated game. After that would come a spring exhibition outing, followed by two minor-league starts. With no setbacks, Piniella said, Lilly could be pitching for the Cubs by mid-April.

	Wilson came out of Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Cubs feeling good. After allowing one run and three hits and striking out five in four innings, the 29-year-old left-hander seemed almost a lock for a spot in the Rangers' rotation. Wilson excelled in pitching the fifth through eighth innings. "Well, he's looking great,'' manager Ron Washington said. ``You can't take anything away from what he's done. We just haven't gotten to the point yet where we're ready to make an announcement.''

Silva allowed two singles, hit a batter and struck out three in his sharpest outing. Acquired from Seattle for Milton Bradley with two years and $25 million left on his contract, the righty has pitched seven scoreless innings since getting hit hard in his first game.

Lohse had allowed one run in his two other spring outings combined. ``I felt better than the results,'' he said. "I was trying to get more ground ball outs. I did that but every time I left the ball up, they got in the air and it seemed to fall in for a hit, or they hit it hard, of course, that's going to be a hit.''

	Rios left Tuesday's 6-1 win over Colorado after three innings with pain in his left quadriceps, but manager Ozzie Guillen said it isn't serious. Rios' exit was precautionary. "He's swinging the bat pretty good,'' Guillen said. ``I don't want him to go out and aggravate it.''
