	Davis has his speed back. Not six months after the Carolina Panthers weakside linebacker underwent surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, Davis recently was clocked running the 40-yard dash in a stunning 4.47 seconds. The 27-year-old Davis is sitting out team drills during the Panthers' optional workouts this month, but he insists it's only because the training staff is being overly cautious. After his best season as a pro was derailed in November, Davis is somehow already healthy again. That's good news for fantasy owners and Panthers fans.

	Reed says the NFL ordered him to undergo an evaluation after he became involved in an alcohol-related dispute with Pittsburgh police following a home game in October. Reed was cleared in that case after completing 40 hours of community service. Earlier last year, he paid a fine after police near Pittsburgh accused him of damaging a paper towel dispenser and harassing employees at a convenience store a few weeks after the Steelers won the Super Bowl. Reed's NFL-mandated evaluation apparently was similar to that recently completed by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who was suspended six games for violating the league's personal conduct policy after a Georgia college student accused him of sexually assaulting her in March. While discussing Roethlisberger's problems Thursday, Reed revealed that he also was required by the league to undergo an unspecified evaluation.

	Saints coach Sean Payton says he expects Shockey to practice during the club's three-day minicamp that starts Friday. Shockey was hospitalized last week following a seizure that occurred while he was lifting weights at the Saints' training headquarters. Hours after the seizure, the star tight end posted a message on his Twitter site that he was "OK." Payton said on Thursday that Shockey should be ready to go this weekend.

	The NFL says Ojinnaka has been suspended without pay for the season opener after being arrested last year. Ojinnaka will miss the first regular-season game at Pittsburgh on Sept. 12. The league announced the suspension on Thursday, citing its personal conduct policy. Police in suburban Gwinnett County said Ojinnaka was arrested in May 2009 on a simple battery charge after his wife confronted him over his contact with a female friend on the social networking site Facebook. He was accused of tossing her down some stairs and throwing her out of the house.

	The Cleveland Browns have signed Robinson. Last season, the 6-foot-3 Robinson signed as a free agent with Miami and spent eight weeks on the Dolphins' practice squad. He was with Cleveland for three weeks and spent the final four weeks with the Washington Redskins. The 28-year-old has also played in the Canadian and Arena Football Leagues.

	Sanchez's surgically repaired left knee is feeling good, and the New York Jets quarterback is confident he will be able to fully participate during the team's minicamp in less than two weeks. Sanchez had the patella-stabilizing ligament in the knee repaired in February, and he has participated in individual and passing drills since organized team activities began a few weeks ago. He has only been involved in one 11-on-11 drill - a handoff last week - but said Thursday that the fact he has had no swelling in the knee means he's nearly 100 percent.

	Revis has sat out of practice while he seeks a new contract. Revis was not on the field with the rest of the team during the voluntary session Thursday, the first time this offseason he missed a practice. Coach Rex Ryan says he has not spoken with Revis, but stresses that the organized team activities are voluntary and ``we'll see what happens.'' Mandatory minicamp begins June 14. Revis said two weeks ago that the team sent his agents a proposal that was being evaluated. He wants to be the highest-paid player at his position, but is scheduled to make just $1 million in the fourth season of his six-year rookie deal.

	Graham has signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens. Graham spent the past seven seasons with the Bengals. He went 23 for 28 on field goal tries last season before missing two important kicks within 40 yards in an AFC playoff game against the New York Jets. Graham and will compete for the starting job against Billy Cundiff, who was hired by the Ravens during the 2009 season to replace struggling kicker Steve Hauschka.

	Roethlisberger says he is striving to make better decisions in his life and is working closely with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to make the best of his ``second chance'' in football. The Steelers quarterback talked publicly for the first time since drawing a six-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. He did not apologize for his actions in a Georgia nightclub, where a college student accused him of sexually assaulting her. But he said he has spent the last two months rethinking his life and the type of person he wants to be.

	Harris says there's no doubt he'll be back helping Green Bay on the field this season after a major knee injury. Harris spoke Wednesday in his first comments in the Packers locker room since the injury last fall. He says he never thought about calling it quits. Harris says it was tough watching the Packers reach the postseason without him. Green Bay held its second of four organized team activities on Wednesday. Harris tore a ligament in his left knee on Nov. 22 against the 49ers while defending San Francisco wide receiver Michael Crabtree. He needed season-ending surgery and there had been questions whether the veteran would return.

	Atogwe, the team's top playmaker the last four seasons, has become an unrestricted free agent after failing to come to an agreement on a multiyear contract. The Rams had a late Tuesday deadline to sign Atogwe, who is coming off shoulder surgery that sidelined him the final four games last season. St. Louis declined to sign Atogwe to a one-year tender for $6,976,000, the player's salary for last year plus 10 percent. Atogwe did not participate in the team's offseason conditioning program and has not attended organized activities in May and June. He was second on the team with 84 tackles and had two interceptions.

	Minnesota coach Brad Childress says he is not concerned with the trash-talking tweets going on between Shiancoe and Saints safety Darren Sharper. Shiancoe and Sharper have been sniping back and forth on Twitter for the better part of two weeks, a feud that started when Sharper implied New Orleans would go after Brett Favre's surgically repaired ankle in the season opener in September. The latest exchange happened when some Vikings visited the Minnesota National Guard on Tuesday. Shiancoe posted a photo of a target used for shooting practice. The target had a picture of Osama Bin Laden with Sharper's No. 42 on his chest and his name written above it. Childress brushed it off Wednesday. He says that ``somewhere we will reel it in.''

	Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says the team is working closely with Roethlisberger to make sure he turns his life around, but Tomlin is not offering any specifics. Tomlin says he talks regularly with Roethlisberger, who recently underwent a behavioral evaluation as part of the six-game suspension given him by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. The suspension could be reduced to four games at Goodell's discretion, but the Steelers say their intervention isn't specifically designed to ensure Roethlisberger returns to the field sooner.

	Welker is running pass routes again four months after knee surgery. The NFL's receptions leader last season participated Wednesday in the Patriots' voluntary practice. He took part in agility drills, made cuts while running patterns and caught passes while wearing a brace on his left knee. Welker had surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament of that knee on Feb. 2 after being injured in the team's final regular-season game. The medial collateral ligament also was injured but he has said it didn't need surgery.

	The Seattle Seahawks have claimed wide receiver, kick returner and former Washington Huskies quarterback Isaiah Stanback off waivers from the New England Patriots. Stanback caught two passes in 10 games and returned 13 kickoffs in two seasons with Dallas, which drafted him in the fourth round in 2007. The Cowboys cut him after training camp last season. New England signed him to its practice squad in September. He joined the active roster in November and played in six games, with two starts.

	The Denver Broncos have claimed Davis off waivers from New England. The third-year pro spent most of last season on the Patriots' practice squad after playing in five games as a rookie in 2008 for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who had made him a third-round draft selection out of UCLA. Davis ranked second in school history with 29 sacks and was a first-team All Pac-10 selection his senior season. Davis was waived by the Patriots on Thursday.

A slimmed-down Roethlisberger took part in voluntary practices April 19 and 20, but was barred from working out again until he underwent a league-ordered behavioral evaluation and was cleared by Goodell to resume team activities. The commissioner still hasn’t decided if Roethlisberger’s suspension will be reduced to four games. He did not talk to reporters.

	These days, the Miami Dolphins are holding back Pennington. With good reason. Dolphins coach Tony Sparano already knows Pennington's strengths and doesn't want to tax his throwing shoulder, which was operated on for the third time last season. This is new territory for Pennington, a two-time NFL Comeback Player of the Year. Sparano wants to hold Pennington to between 40 and 55 throws in practices, which amounts to a relatively light workload. Pennington isn't complaining whatsoever, either. "I'm actually really OK with that," Pennington said. "No. 1, I know what we're trying to get accomplished here as a team. And No. 2, I appreciate that perspective to where I don't have to throw myself in the fire in May."

	Indianapolis police say the brother of Kiwanuka has been critically injured in a motorcycle accident on the city's northwest side. Police say the Kiwanuka brothers were riding separate motorcycles at high speed on Lafayette Road on Friday when a car pulled out of an apartment complex and 32-year-old Benedict Kiwanuka struck it. Police say he was thrown about 100 feet and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

	LPGA golfer Natalie Gulbis played a round of golf with ex-boyfriend Roethlisberger and called the troubled Steelers quarterback "a great guy." Gulbis played golf Tuesday with Roethlisberger at Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, a former site of the Ryder Cup and PGA Championship. On Wednesday, she visited Oakmont Country Club, where the U.S. Women’s Open will be played July 8-11. Gulbis and Roethlisberger were linked romantically several years ago, but the relationship did not last. Roethlisberger was suspended by the NFL for six games after being accused of sexually assaulting a Georgia college student in March. He was not charged in the case, but was punished under the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Gulbis says she’ll continue to cheer for Roethlisberger and the Steelers.
