	The San Diego Chargers have traded third-string quarterback Whitehurst to the Seattle Seahawks. Whitehurst has never thrown a pass in the NFL and has played in only two games, both as a rookie in 2006. The teams swapped second-round picks in this year's draft, allowing the Chargers to move up 20 spots to No. 40 overall, while giving up the 60th choice. San Diego also receives a 2011 pick, believed to be a third-rounder.

	The Tennessee Titans have signed Babin to an offer sheet. Under a special clause the Eagles put into Babin's contract, they have one week to match the offer. Without the clause, Babin would be an unrestricted free agent because of his six years of NFL service. Babin, a first-round draft pick in 2004 out of Western Michigan, has played for Houston, Seattle, Kansas City and Philadelphia. Last season he played in 12 games and had 20 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks for the Eagles.

	Kennedy will return to the Minnesota Vikings next season. Kennedy was the 12th overall draft choice by St. Louis in 2003 and bounced around to Chicago and Jacksonville before finding a home in Minnesota. He has emerged as a valued backup to aging starter Pat Williams. He started one game in 2009 and had a career-best nine tackles in that game. Kennedy tied his career high with three sacks last season. The unrestricted free agent also visited the Buffalo Bills this offseason.

	The 49ers have signed free agent cornerback Karl Paymah to a one-year deal. Paymah, a third-round draft pick by Denver out of Washington State in 2005, is set to enter his sixth NFL season after largely playing on special teams so far. He has started seven of his 72 NFL games, recording 67 tackles, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.The 27-year-old Paymah spent his first four seasons with the Broncos before signing with Minnesota in 2009.

	The Arizona Cardinals have come to terms on a two-year contract with free agent quarterback Derek Anderson. The one-time Pro Bowl quarterback comes to Arizona as the Cardinals look for someone to compete with Matt Leinart, the only quarterback the team has under contract after Kurt Warner's retirement. Anderson was released by Cleveland on March 9, ending an uneven five-year stint with the team. Anderson made the Pro Bowl in 2007 when he threw 29 touchdown passes and led the club to a 10-6 record.

	Willis has undergone surgery on his right knee to remove an inflamed fluid sac that kept him out of this year's Pro Bowl. The 49ers said the surgery, considered minor and done about a week ago, was performed by Dr. Tim McAdams and Dr. Gary Fanton at Stanford Hospitals and Clinics in nearby Redwood City. The team will not put a timetable on Willis' return, but he isn't expected to be sidelined for long. The team will adjust his offseason conditioning and regimen as he rehabilitates.

	The Seattle Seahawks have signed former Tampa Bay linebacker Matt McCoy to a one-year contract to add depth to their defense and special teams. The 27-year-old second-round pick of Philadelphia in 2005 played in 12 games, including two starts, last season. It was his second with the Buccaneers. He finished the 2007 season with New Orleans. The former San Diego State Aztec has made 97 tackles and forced three fumbles in 47 NFL games, 12 of them starts. He has made another 50 tackles on special teams.

	Edwards has signed a four-year contract with the Buffalo Bills. A person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press early Wednesday morning that the contract potentially is worth $18 million. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal has not yet been announced by the Bills. Edwards is a six-year NFL veteran, who played his entire career with Baltimore. He missed the entire 2008 season with a neck injury, but bounced back last year, with 56 tackles and two sacks in 18 games, including playoffs.

	The Chicago Bears have released former Pro Bowl defensive back Nathan Vasher. Vasher, selected in the fourth round of the 2004 draft out of Texas, played six seasons with Chicago and made 19 interceptions, including eight in 2005. Vasher's play dropped off the last several seasons and he was slowed by injuries. The Bears this week signed free agent cornerback Tim Jennings to a two-year contract. In 2005, Vasher returned a missed field goal 108 yards for a touchdown that at the time was the longest play in NFL history.

	Jones has agreed to a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jones played for Philadelphia last season after spending the first five years of his career with the Cleveland Browns. He started nine games with the Eagles, finishing with 72 tackles, one sack and two interceptions. Jones was a second-round draft pick of the Browns in 2004. He has been a full-time starter since 2006, and his 16 interceptions over the past four seasons are tied for fourth among safeties.

	The Carolina Panthers will have at least one starting defensive lineman returning next season after agreeing on a three-year deal with defensive end Tyler Brayton. Brayton signed a two-year contract before the start of the 2008 season and has started 31 games over the past two years. He was eighth on the team with 45 tackles last season and had five sacks. He'll likely be paired with much younger players next season. The Panthers let defensive end Julius Peppers leave for Chicago in free agency and cut starting tackle Damione Lewis and Maake Kemoeatu.

	The Dolphins have reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with Incognito. The Dolphins will be the third NFL team since December for Incognito. He has started 47 games but concedes he has a reputation for being "a less than model citizen." Last year the St. Louis Rams benched him in two games, each time after he drew two personal fouls. The Rams waived him after the second benching, and he started the final three games for Buffalo. In Miami, Incognito will compete at right guard with Donald Thomas and Nate Garner.

	The Philadelphia Eagles have released former All-Pro right guard Shawn Andrews. The former first-round pick has played in just two games over the past two years because of back injuries. He missed the 2008 training camp because of depression. Andrews, the 16th overall selection in the 2004 NFL draft, was moved to right tackle last summer to replace longtime starter Jon Runyan. However, he never played a down. Andrews made the Pro Bowl in 2006 and '07 and had a contract that ran through 2015.

	Grossman has signed a free-agent contract with the Washington Redskins. Grossman spent last season with the Houston Texans, working with new Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. The 29-year-old Grossman played the previous six seasons with the Chicago Bears, leading them to the Super Bowl after the 2006 season. He has played in 37 NFL games, including 31 starts. He has completed 524 of 971 passes (54 percent) for 6,197 yards, with 33 touchdowns and 36 interceptions. The Redskins released backup quarterback Todd Collins on March 4.

	The Philadelphia Eagles have signed free agent running back Bell to an offer sheet. The Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints have seven days to match the contract offer. They wouldn't receive compensation for letting Bell go. Bell had 654 yards rushing and five touchdowns last season. He averaged 3.8 yards per carry. Bell ran for 677 yards and eight TDs as a rookie with Denver in 2006. Bell, who turns 27 next month, would join LeSean McCoy in Philadelphia's backfield. Former All-Pro Brian Westbrook was released last month.

	Henderson is back on his feet and says he's on track to return to the field for training camp. Henderson broke his leg against Arizona on Dec. 6. Henderson spoke to reporters on Tuesday night before receiving the team's annual award for community service. He was also hosting an event at Winter Park for his youth foundation. Henderson says he started walking without a cane a few weeks ago. He says his recovery is on schedule and that he should be back by August. He has been rehabilitating in the training room at team headquarters nearly every day.

	Davis wasted little time in free agency by signing a two-year contract with the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday. The deal was reached during Davis' visit to the Bills headquarters, five days after the player was released by the Denver Broncos. Financial terms were not disclosed. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 250 pounds, Davis is an eight-year NFL veteran who was credited with 90 tackles in each of his last two seasons. He also had a career-best 3 1/2 sacks last year. ``Very excited. I'm glad this process if over with,'' said Davis, who will be a candidate to start at one of two middle linebacker spots in Buffalo's new 3-4 defense. ``I feel good, man, just ready to go.''

	Richardson have agreed to terms on a one-year deal, keeping one of the league's best lead blockers in the backfield for the NFL's top-rushing team. Richardson, 38, will be entering his 16th season and has paved the way for several 1,000-yard rushers, including Thomas Jones the last two seasons. The move Tuesday comes on the same day the Jets officially signed LaDainian Tomlinson. Richardson is a three-time Pro Bowl selection who helped Priest Holmes to three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in Kansas City from 2001-03, and Larry Johnson in 2005. He did it again the following season in Minnesota with Chester Taylor, and was instrumental in Adrian Peterson rushing for 1,341 yards as a rookie in 2007.

	The Seattle Seahawks have traded pass-rushing defensive end Darryl Tapp to Philadelphia for Clemons and the Eagles' fourth-round choice in next month's draft. Clemons played two seasons with Philadelphia after posting a career-high eight sacks in 2007, his only season with Oakland.
