Round 1

Brady and Manning, as you said, are the obviously the 2 best QBs in the AFC and the entire NFL for that matter. However, Derek Anderson is not the 3rd best QB in the AFC. That place belongs to Roethlisberger or Carson Palmer.

Let's concentrate on Derek Anderson for now though.

-He threw for 19 interceptions, good for 4th most in the NFL.
-His QB rating was 82.5. Good for 17th in the entire NFL.
-His completion percentage was 56.5. That was 28th in the NFL.

Sure he was top 10 in yards and top 5 in TDs, but his efficiency does not make him a top 3 QB in the AFC.

Round 1

Derek had never done this before
in his first season as starter his number were great for a very young team
he brought a bad team to a contender in the afc north and won more games then anyone else has as browns QB since they returned.
All of this was done with the pressure of knowing that you are going to be replaced by Brady Quinn in the future.
Some of Dereks Numbers were not the prettiest but he did find was to win and in the end thats what matters. He played better then Carson Palmer.
He came in out of nowhere and proved he can be a starter in this league and next year will improve upon those numbers.
Ben threw 3 picks in the season ending loss to Jacksonville, look at his numbers...against any decent teams he played sub-par...his games wiht over a 100 QB rating where against San Fran, Cincy, Baltimore, and the Rams.
Against good team he did not play that great at all
Anderson is going to be in his 2nd season as a starter and now with more experience i quaruntee he will b the 3rd best QB in the AFC next season

Round 2

The fact is he is not the 3rd best QB. Even if he improves, he will not be in the class of Roethlisberger, Palmer, or even Cutler next year. If you look at Palmer's number besides last year, you will see that last year was an anomaly. In 2006, his TD/INT ratio was 28/13. In 2005 it was 32/12. Anderson will never be able to achieve those numbers due to his inaccuracy. You can expect Palmer to return to his regular numbers while Anderson will drop down.

Let's talk about how Anderson did against quality opponents since you stated all of Roethliberger's good games came against crap opponents. Well, Anderson only had 4 truly good games (100+ QB Rating). Those came against Cincinnati, Saint Louis, Miami, and Pittsburgh. Aside from Pittsburgh, those are all horrible teams. Roethlisberger, besides games against STL, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and San Fran, had a QB rating of over 100 against Baltimore, Seattle, and Denver. All of those are quality opponents.

Not to mention Roethlisberger is on a run-heavy offense. He still threw 30+ TDs when passing isn't the key focus. Big Ben is also a proven winner. His win percentage is something like .800 (just a guess, but it is close to that). He has already won a Super Bowl, and will continue to outproduce Anderson for years to come.

Round 2

Derek is just emerging as a good QB
he stepped in a won game wiht a sub-par team wiht low confidence and empty QB spot.
Derek knew he would lsoe his job sooner or later and still was able to stay poised and win games
he is surrounded by a very young offense...Ben has players like Ward and Paker to help out.
Under Anderson, Edwardsand Winslow had their best seasons.
i think Anderson will have a better season then Palmer and Cutler no problem.
Him and Big Ben will have the race for the #3 spot and i think Anderson will get t in the 08 season

Round 3

I'm sorry, but I just don't see that happening. From a talent perspective, Cutler blows him completely out of the water. So does Palmer. From a leadership and knowledge of the QB position, Big Ben blows him out of the water. He will have to IMPROVE on his numbers that he had this year, which I feel is very unlikely, especially with the presence of Brady Quinn lurking in the shadows if he screws up. He may end up doing better than 1 or 2 of the three I mentioned, but there is no way someone with a 56% completion percentage and a 82 QB rating last year will have a better year than studs like Palmer, Roethlisberger, and Cutler.

Round 3

Palmer is doing nothing bu getting worse numbers.
the attitude problems r killing the bengals and they will not do much better then they did this year

I think next season wiht Kellen and Braylon having another year under their belt Anderson will play even better.
He knows if he doesnt then he will lose his job and he kept it last season and he does not plan on losing it next season.
I think he will improve on his numbers by alot and either him or Ben will b the #3.
In his 2nd year as the starter he will only play better then he did last season wiht a good season.

the only reason people think he is better than carson is because carson was expected to do more. Carson still did better.
