Good luck with him hitting outside of Coors.
If I remember correctly, he got replaced in the starting line-up last year.
He's got power but theres a bigger hole in his swing than anybody wants to admit too.

So he strikes out alot then. We just need somebody to fill this hole for this year till Josh Bell is ready to come up which should be by the end of the year, is he good enough to be decent for a year??
I know him and Nick in right and Nolan Reimold in left we have one of the best outfields in the leauge I think!
I know I am really excited about this season, with Millwood leading our young pitching staff and if we get a nice power bat at first base I think we might be able to make some noise in the division!
Well Camden Yards has been known to be a pretty nice hitters ballpark too, so hopefully he can hit for some power, thats what we are really lacking offensively
Orioles Join Holliday Bidding
By Tim Dierkes [December 17 at 12:05am CST]
The Orioles have "jumped into" the bidding for outfielder Matt Holliday, write Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports. But despite the leap, the writers question the team's seriousness and Holliday's inclination to play in Baltimore, labeling the O's a longshot.
The majority of the article is spent explaining why signing Holliday could make sense for the Orioles, in the vein that signing Mark Teixeira a year ago made sense for them in some people's minds. You tell us, Orioles fans - would signing Holliday energize you? Would you want the O's to subsequently deal from their outfield depth to add pitching?

I am kinda torn on this one. I would love to have Matt Holliday, after seeing how he helped the Cards last year, I think he is a great player, BUT, I think we need to look for power at the first base position first, for a few reasons, one, we have a void there and there are some good power hitting first baseman out there right now, two, I dont think we should break up the outfield we have. I really do believe we have one of the top outfields out there. Reimold showed very good power and hitting last year and it was his rookie year. Adam Jones, he speaks for himself he can play center and hit, and I dont think he has hit his power peak yet, and then Markakis I believe got robbed of a gold glove this past season. He led the leauge in outfield assists and he is a very good all around hitter!!
I really would like to keep all of our young pitchers from last year that came up and pitched. That is the main thing we have needed for a long time is good solid pitching, so I would rather sign a free agent instead of giving up some of our good young arms!
Well Luke Scott is a very expendable player right now, so he could very well be used as trade bait, he does have decent power!
Nobody including me wants Luke Scott. I doubt the Oriole can get Holiday, but if they did Riemold could move to first. Atkins could be a nice surprise, as good as anyone else left out there. I agree with you about the pitching. Do Not give any of the young arms up yet. I would love to see 80 wins this year, look at the progress of the young pitchers then decide if you want to make a deal for a bat.
HUGE HUGE HUGE down year last year. He was a guy with a ton of power and hit for a good average before last year where he lost his job and got benched. His numbers have always been better at Coors then away from it. I dont think hes as good for the Os as he was in the past for the Rockies but its kinda hard to imagine hell be as bad as last year.
Gonzalez was a good signing
Gonzalez was a good signing
Well I hope he can bring his power back for us then. Like I said earlier in this thread Camden Yards has been known as a hitters park as well!
Not quite like Coors. But the good thing is NL west has some great pitchers so the rotations hes facing shouldnt matter much. I posted his stats down below so yea hes been on a decline for a few years. Theres a good chance he will be average at best. I will say though from the Os standpoint thats fine depending on his terms. They wont be competing for the division or even wild card for the nexy few years and just need to keep building up the young guys till they get that core in their prime with a 2-3 window of a legit shot at making a run at it all and start over

He's been on the decline for the past few years. He got somewhat unlucky last year with his balls in play, but i would not expect much out of him. Although he was okay defensively last year at 3rd, he sucked the previous two years at it. I wouldn't be expecting much out of him.
I watched Atkins since Triple A in Colorado Springs in 2004. He is a very good hitter, one thing I seen last year that I never seen before is a lack of confidence in himself. If he has a great spring, and a great swing coming into the season I bet he can be a 20+ HR, .290 90 RBI man for the O's. I wish him all the best, and I put my mouth where my words are, Garrett will be the 3B for the O's for years to come.
