They swapped the former World Series MVP to Texas for a prospect named Max Ramirez. I might be thinking a little crazy here, but could this mean with now a hole at third base that the Red Sox will be making a move for a corner infielder...such as Adrian Gonzalez.

And with Young, Andrus, and Kinsler in the infield with Chris Davis possibly becoming your main 1B, what would this say for Hank Blalock's chance for returning?

I think he's done in Texas.

Maybe the Sox are eyeing him or another third baseman. Epstein isn't stupid, when he makes a deal like this it means he has something else in the works..usually something a lot bigger.

If I'm not mistaken, Blalock is a free agent. Has pretty good pop in his bat (if he's ever healthy).

I am sure Theo's got something in mind if he pulls the trigger on a deal such as this.

how about a pre-cursor to signing Beltre?

that would be more likely for the Sox

This deal is far from a sure thing. Lowell has to pass a physical and Bud Selig has to approve it cus of the money involved. Adrian Gonzalez is a very very long shot to end up in Boston with what it would cost to sign him. Adrian Beltre is much more likely

I figured they would search for another corner OF, but i just cant fathom Adrian Gonzalez being in a Sox uni next season. I dont think the Sox could even offer enough to get that kid from the Pads, yeah, they suck, but why would they just have a firesale at such a low price?

i would do that trade. gonzo is amazing but they also have kyle blanks.

they get a good SP, and then Kelly and Westmooreland are like low A prospects but probs are A+ prospects. they are really good.

With Lowell on the field there was already a hole at 3B.

The move was more to unload an old, broken Lowell that had way too much money and time left on his contract for someone that was younger.

The Sox are still paying a good majority of his contract.
