Just saw this on Rotoworld

MLB.com's Bill Ladson reports that the Nationals have offered Mark Teixeira an eight-year, $180 million contract.

It's possible. The Yahoo! report from earlier today said the Nats had made an offer believed to be at least $150 million for seven year, but didn't have the real details. Ladson covers the Nats for MLB.com, so he should have some reliable sources. Dec. 10 - 6:20 pm et

Wow.... what an insane offer. I know that the Nats lack talent, but this seems to be an insane offer.

That's insane, especially that they got no talent, and the Smelly Sox are gonna match that offer with ease.

The Sox have made it or more or less a practice not to give out contracts like that since the Manny one.

The Chicago White Sox are a Major League Baseball team based in Chicago, Illinois. The White Sox play in the American League's Central Division. Since 1991, the White Sox have played in U.S. Cellular Field, which was originally called New Comiskey Park and nicknamed The Cell by local fans. The White Sox are one of two major league clubs based in Chicago, golf vacation, the other being the Chicago Cubs of the National League. The White Sox last won the World Series in 2005 when they played the Houston Astros and swept them in four games.

One of the American League's eight charter franchises, the Chicago team was established as a major league baseball club in 1901. The club was originally called the Chicago White Stockings, after the nickname abandoned by the Cubs, and the name was soon shortened to Chicago White Sox, all inclusive vacation. At this time, the team played their home games at South Side Park. In 1910, the team moved into historic Comiskey Park, which they would inhabit for more than eight decades.

The Chicago White Sox are most prominently nicknamed "the South Siders", differentiating them from the North Side Chicago Cubs. Other nicknames include "the Pale Hose", "the ChiSox", a combination of "Chicago" and "Sox" (as opposed to the BoSox), "the Go-Go Sox", a reference to 1959 AL champions, who got that nickname; "the Good Guys",bahamas vacation packages, a reference to the team's one-time motto "Good guys wear black", coined by Ken "Hawk" Harrelson; and "the Black Sox," the name attributed to the scandal-tainted 1919 team. Most fans refer to the team as simply "the Sox". The Spanish language media sometimes refer to the team as Medias Blancas for "White Stockings."

Stupid. They can spend it on multiple players to start rebuilding or blow it on one guy which is what they are trying to do

He wants to play in the East but he also wants to play on a winning team so I think he'll go to Boston if they offer him good money.

this is reminiscient of the arod deal the rangers offered, a team with no talent thinking one player will turn them around

I think you can start looking for Nationals management in the unemployment line this time next year if they make that deal. An overpaid 1st baseman is the least of their needs.

These are the types of offers that mid-market teams should make. Tex is a great all-around player that's still in his prime.

I am somewhat surprised that some people think this is a good deal. $18-$20/mil a year for a guy that will hit 35 HRs a year is ridiculous. Jesus, what a dumb offer for any team to make, but he is a Boras client so he will somehow make close to 20 mil per.
