I realize Anderson Silva is frien...
Forrest Griffin interview. Newer »
Well a long rumored fight between Houston Alexander and Kimbo Slice has been set as a catch weight bout for the TUF 10 Finale in December.
Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort will not happen at UFC 108. He is still not fully healed from his surgery and it will not be enough time to fully train for the fight.
Lyoto Machida is having surgery and will not be ready to resume training till mid Jan. With this and the Silva news, it mean the super card we were hoping for on UFC 108 will not be as big as once hoped.
Jon Fitch has ANOTHER opponent. He will now be facing Mike Pierce at UFC 107.
What does everyone think?

Kimbo is such great tv. He is great to listen to on TUF.Dana needs to get Dan Henderson signed and have him fight the spider. I'm fired up for Penn/Sanchez. That event has a good card. I think its Mir vs Kongo and Florian fights too.
Ya 107 will be good.
Kimbo will be a good fighter I think too
If Hendo does sign he will fight Marquardt

I think Kenny Florian is fighting Clay Guida in one of these events coming up. That will be a great fight, then again, any fight Clay Guida is in will be great even if he loses! The guy has a warrior's spirit. I didn't realize Hendo was no longer signed. After that last knockout over Bisping, he needs to get his ass back in there and fight the champ! Honestly, out of all the guys Anderson Silva has fought in the UFC, Dan probably did the best against him. If he can get in there and tie him up, take him down, defend the submissions and sweeps and maintain dominance, he has the fight in my opinion. He just needs to fight before he gets any older.lol. Hendo is awsome.
Difference between Hendo and Marquardt is Marquardt beat quality fighters at MW. Hendo just beat Franklin. Bisping win wasnt that good and he was fighting at LHW as well. Nate has been dominating guys who people thought were good fighters. They will prolly fight each other
I think Marquardt is a great fighter as well. You make some interesting points, but I guess I just want Hendo to get the first crack because he is getting old, and Nate has a much longer shelf life. If they fought each other that would be great. I would give an advantage to Hendo though because he has such a powerful wrestling and clinch game, coupled with more devestating knockout power. Nate may be faster on his feet however. If Dan gets in trouble, hopefully he will be smart and take him to the ground while avoiding submissions.
The Bisping win wasn't that good? He knocked his ass out! How can it get much better than that? Yeah the win over Franklin wasn't exactly a dominating performance (I still believe Franklin was robbed), but people seem to be forgetting that Franklin is still a very talented fighter. He is much better than Bisping in my opinion.
Bisping isnt very good is why it wasnt a good win. Yes the way he won was good, but he beat a bad fighter
Oh ok. I misunderstood. I think Bisping is decent, but there are several guys in the middleweight division that would slaughter him. His victories are over a lot of washed up or unworthy opponents. Hammill got robbed when they fought. Anyway, in the long run, styles make fights. The optimal opponent for Anderson Silva would have to be someone who has world-class wrestling, good submission defense, and a good chin (likely to eat some shots going in for a takedown against Silva), and I think Hendo fits that criteria better than Marquardt. Marquardt's standup is perhaps more technical, but there is no way he rivals Dan in the ability to take a punch or control opponents on the ground, which is where anyone who wants to be successful in beating Anderson Silva needs to take the fight. Submission defense would probably go to Nate though because of his top-level jiu-jitsu pedigree. Hell, I say they should just fight each other for the top spot.
If Hendo resigns they will fight each other. Thats what Silva dn the UFC both want. But as far as who would win. I think Nate is quicker and a better striker at this stage in their careers. He wont be like Bisping, he kept moving to Hendo's right hand and ended up getting KOed
He probably is quicker. It will be a great fight either way. I'll be the first to admit that my opinion is probably a tad biased bc I am a pretty big Hendo fan. Needless to say, I hope he knocks the shit outta everyone he fights. Nate's last fight was very impressive though. I think he has improved in leaps and bounds since the last time he faced Anderson Silva. We'll see what happens.
I'd say if Penn trains like he did for the St. Pierre fight, he may lose to Sanchez. Both guys have great boxing, but I'd give Penn a slight advantage. Diego is a fantastic wrestler, but to be honest I don't see him taking Penn down...at least not often. Overall, I would have to put my money on Penn in this fight, even though Diego is one of my favorites. I'd like to see a Sanchez/Guida rematch, or even a fight between Sanchez and Florian. That one could go either way!
Silva v.s. Belfort should be a good matchup. I think Vitor is as deadly as ever, and has only improved over the years. Hate to say it, but I would still give the edge to Silva. He is great at countering a very aggressive style, and that is exactly what Vitor brings to the table. I still hope Vitor wins though, because I'm beginning to think Anderson Silva believes he is unbeatable. I think he's a great fighter, but I'm tired of seeing him win!
Silva is so crazy good at avoiding damage(I think the best in UFC history). So if people think Belfort is just gonna come out and swing away and take him out, big mistake. If he does that Silva will move away from those punches and pick his spots and take his ass out
Very true. He will have to come in with a very sound game plan. Both guys are extremely fast, so it is going to come down to who can utilize the best angles and overall techniques. I'd still probably give the edge to Silva, but I think Belfort may have more knockout power. That could be looked at as an advantage...if he is able to touch him.
Im not that surprised about 108 or Machida. 108 seemed like a quick return for Silva considering hes still in rehab. I was shocked though that they were thinking of having him Lesnar and Evans on the same card, man that would have been sick
he should stay that want that fight to happen as soon as possible so that they can get both fighters back into the mix
That really sucks with Anderson. That card would have been insane. Poor Fitch, his opponent changes every week. lol
