The Minnesota Timberwolves' top draft pick, Ricky Rubio, will remain in Spain to play for his DKV Joventut basketball team for the remaining two years of his contract rather than try to move to the NBA this season.

what do you think of his decision? Thoughts?

He should have entered the draft in two years not right now. How do they even let them enter the draft when they are still in a contract? I don't understand.

Boy the T-Wolves sure got the short end of the stick here.

I agree Rubio shouldn't have entered the draft if he didn't intend on playing.

Maybe you could clear some things up to me because this whole thing is confusing. So Rubio is going back to Spain? I presume because he doesn't want to play for Minnesota. So when he does come back in two years won't the Wolves still have his rights? Does he think that the T'Wolves will relocate somewhere with nicer weather by then? WTF.

The Timberwolves will still have his rights after two years. That's not the point though. The point is why did he even enter the draft if he didn't plan on playing for an NBA team in the 09-10 season. It's really ridiculous. The NBA shouldn't allow players to be eligible to to the draft if they are still under a contract in another country.

I agree with you on that point, it creates mass chaos and it's really not fair to the teams.

Hopefully he actually plays in games for the Wolves unlike their top pick last season {OJ Mayo}

Rubio is staying in Spain. So that means you won't see him play any games for the Wolves.

Not this year but the Wolves still have his rights if he decides to enter the NBA

Really? I didn't know that. Still he's stated he doesn't want to play in Minnesota. Who knows though maybe his outlook will change in two years and he'll come back and be more mature about his situation.

Yes and I'm not surprised that he would be hesitant about playing in Minnesota

That is part of it plus it would cost 6.6 Million to buy him out from his contract and the Wolves could only put a max of 500,000 towards due to NBA Rules

The Wolves still have Rubio's NBA Rights so the Wolves can try to sign Rubio to a contract or they could trade him to another team

He is a little bitch who thinks he can tell an NBA team that owns him what he wants to do because it isn't where he wanted to go. This little bitch has been pampered since he turned pro when he was 14 so he thinks he can do what he wants.
