When the 37 year old asked for a 3 year contract. A little greedy Ray?

A little advice Mr. Whitney. Let's hold off on contract demands until July when your contract expires. A lot of teams with playoff aspirations are interested in acquiring your services from the hurricanes who are going to miss the playoffs. Go to a team, play well and earn your next contract.

Hmmm.. Maybe he's hoping that if he's traded that he can sign a new contract right away so he doesn't have to worry about leaving another city and playing for another team so soon after a trade.

Although a 3 year deal for a guy his age is a bit much. Unfortunately no one will want to sign an extension after a trade... he's your typical rental player...

Teams don't want to sign players his age long term either because the cap hit stays regardless of whether he plays or not, even if he were to retire.

nobody needs him that badly

hey could be the next recchi (stumble into playoff contention every year & make cup runs forever), yet he decides to make a cash grab? Too late for that, son.
