I didn't. But PSF does! Now, this is no call out. I am giving facts about their statuses and I want to get people's opinions! I respect his opinion on the matter.

THE ONLY REASON I'M MAKING THIS THREAD IS BECAUSE HE WOULD NOT TAKE THE ROOTOFF I OFFERED TO DO WITH HIM ON THIS SUBJECT.

Here's what he had to say on the sports:

"actually i would argue hockey is the biggest sport in the world !

of course this will piss alot of people off but ... soccer is only the main sport in europe and south america .... where as its the number one sport in canada and number 1 in places like russia sweden etc... not to mention hockey is much more popular in the states !

the amount of people interested in hockey vs soccer ..... im allmost positive hockey would take that but thats all for a diff disscusion !"

and....

"u cant make a case for soccer being more popular....

do u realize the size of canada and its population ?

i mean ur taking europe and south american and pitting it against canada places like russia sweden not to mention more americans are interested in hockey then soccer !

why is soccer considered the worlds sport ... when more of the world dislikes soccer or has a sport they prefer above it ?

or was that slogan created by soccer fans in a attempt to recover from the lashing the sport takes....."

Well, here's the thing buddy:

- The population of South America >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> That of Canada. Canada has a LOT of empty space. Canada had an estimated of 33,212,696 people in it as of July 2008. South America had a population totaled of somewhere around 382,000,000. Russia, Sweden....hell, Europe in general, more people watch soccer than hockey. Hockey is probably the 2nd biggest sport there. Also, many European countries are not big on hockey, such as Spain, Portugal, England, Italy, Netherlands, etc. Many countries that have decent hockey success have more success in soccer (Germany), or about equal popularity (Russia).
- South America has zero hockey success. Zero. Same with Africa. Soccer also > Hockey in China, India (two largest world populations), Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand (even if it isn't the most dominant sport in these countries).
- The Soccer World Cup is the most watched sporting event in the world, with hundreds of millions tuning in.

You also don't realize that Russia and Sweden, and even Finland, Norway, etc. have more open, empty space than anything? Many of the northern areas of these countries do not make for comfortable living conditions. But okay, let's just do a comparison by continent, deal?

North America: US...I'll give you hockey > soccer (I don't know figures, if someone could find that for me, it'd be great). Canada has hockey, Mexico has soccer. We'll give North America to Hockey.

South America: Soccer. No question.

Africa: Soccer. No question

Europe: Most interesting one, IMO. The "Hockey Countries" would probably be the northern ones, so I'll give you Finland, Sweden, Norway, and even Russia. However, soccer is far more popular in England, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Netherlands, Turkey, etc. More people live in these "soccer" dominated countries than do in the hockey ones (correct me if I'm wrong here, with numbers please). So soccer wins Europe.

Asia/Oceania: Without a doubt, soccer. C'mon, the entire Middle East (Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia especially) loves soccer. Rugby dominates Australia and NZ but soccer is in 2nd. India, Pakistan, etc. are dominated by Cricket, but again, soccer is pretty popular still, despite lack of success. China - soccer (and probably Basketball). Japan - soccer (and probably baseball). Koreas - soccer.

Antarctica: I'll give you this one. Ice + Penguins, so take this one, despite the fact that when I looked up the population of the continent, this came up: "No indigenous inhabitants, but there are both permanent and summer-only staffed research station"/

Soo....of the 7 continents....it's 5-2 soccer. I'm not gonna look up ALL the facts, because I doubt there is numbers for total worldwide viewership, but yeah.

So what do you think?

You forgot 2 main things.
1. PSF is an idiot and will still think he is right.
2. PSF's vote is worth 3 billion votes so he actually is right.

Most of southern. Landed in Frankfurt, went down to the Bodensee, then up around ending in Munich. Visited parts of Austria on that trip too, as well as Venice.

GOOD JOB..... now u do realize south america is heavly influenced by another sport BASEBALL....

so being that soccer is more popular then baseball in south america.... and hockey is more popular in the states i think its fair to say that is a wash.... being baseball isnt 2 far behind soccer in those countries..... NOW OF COURSE IM AUTOMATICALLY WRONG BECAUSE IM PSF75 ! of course i cant be right because i never know what im talking about ..... LOL....

there is also more levels 2 hockey and by that i mean there is .... street hockey.. roller hockey and ice hockey... where as soccer its well soccer and indoor soccer....

and if u want to use the excuse canada has alot of wide open space... well the same can be said for

asia/oceani with places like iraq iran and saudia arabia......

and lets not forget about africa.... there most popular sport happens 2 be running not soccer !

also in china its a wash with basketball japan its a wash with baseball and ill give u korea !

so in reality its the main sport in

england france spain portugal italy austria greece turkey netherlands.... and i would credit this due 2 not soccer being that great of a sport ! I KNOW THIS WILL PISS PEOPLE OFF.... but the fact of the matter is they have no other sports 2 have intrest in.... maybe they have cricket and some other things but there exposure level to other sports isnt what it should be so of course naturally if u only have one "main" sport to garner ur attention ur going to levitate towards that !

is all im asking is to think outside the box..... its really not the worlds most popular sport.... and if it is then its by default cause a majority of the world doesnt have the exposure and or the resources to participate and follow the others sports were so fortuante to have !

i was expecting alot better akbar......

facts.... what fucking facts did u provide ?

of course i knew u would say something bout the world cup !

HOW OFTEN DOES THE WORLD CUP HAPPEN ?

let me answer for you ! it happens ONCE EVERY 4 YEARS.......

its the biggest sporting event cause it only happens once every 4 yrs and the pit country vs country.... its also carried on major networks !

if u have a world cup of hockey and it was televised on the same major networks.... ud get around the same number and even if the numbers were less ..... there would be a reason for this !

BECAUSE ALOT OF PEOPLE THAT WATCH THE WORLD CUP...... ONLY WATCH IT BECAUSE ITS THE WORLD CUP..... as why i and many others i know watch it ..... while in the mean time i dont watch any other soccer ... maybe a brazil use matchup when ever that happens !

and thats the case with a ton of other people that watch this world cup.... its the only time i and many others give a shit about it !

thats FACT !

so what facts do u really have? and i rebuttled ur entire thread now u say give me concrete facts !

wheres ur concrete facts ?

that the world cup is the worlds largest sporting event.... lol

Does it take a lot of work to suck that bad at life? Or is it something that just comes very natural? How are you gonna argue something that is a fact? Soccer is easily the most played, and viewed game in the world. Other than politics that is, since it has pretty much become a big game to all of them.
