Good evening zoo crew ;) wow, what a movie, IF YOU havent seen this *based on a true story* movie, I totally suggest it you anyone who likes football, it's funny, sad, sweet, awesome!!! Sports movie to for sure get out and watch, totally worth it!!!!A bit about the movie........
Oher was born to Denise Oher, who suffered an addiction to crack cocaine. As a result, he received little constructive attention during his formative years. He repeated both first grade and second grade, and attended eleven different schools during his first nine years as a student. He also alternated between time spent in various foster homes and periods with no fixed address until he was sixteen years old.[3] Oher's estranged father was murdered while Oher was a senior in high school.
Oher applied for admission to a private school, Briarcrest Christian School, at the instigation of acquaintance Tony Henderson, with whom he was staying temporarily. Henderson was sending his son to the school in order to fulfill the dying wish of the boy's grandmother, and he decided that Oher might as well come along. Although the school's football coach was interested in Oher, school administrators did not feel that he was capable of handling the school's academic workload due to his scant educational background; however, he was admitted after he attempted to qualify for admission through a home-study program that removed him from the public education system
A couple with a daughter at the school, Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, allowed Oher to move in with them and began taking care of his needs after becoming familiar with his difficult personal circumstances. They also connected him with a tutor, who worked with him for twenty hours a week He eventually brought his 0.9 grade point average up to 2.52. Later, the Tuohy family adopted him.On April 26, 2009, he was assigned the #74 jersey,[14] which was his jersey number at Ole Miss. On July 30, 2009 he signed a 5-year, $13.8 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens. He started the 2009 season at right tackle, but was moved to left tackle after an injury to line-mate Jared Gaither. In week eight, he returned to right tackle. He currently has a listed height of 6'4" and a listed weight of 310 pounds. His 40 yard dash time is 5.32 seconds.[15] Oher has thus far started every game for the Ravens this season
The Blind Side
Oher is the subject of Michael Lewis's 2006 book, The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game. A portion of the book was excerpted before publication in the New York Times Magazine as "The Ballad of Big Mike". The book has been adapted for film and was directed by John Lee Hancock. It was released on November 20, 2009. The movie stars Quinton Aaron as Michael Oher, alongside Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw.

wow, is everything that expensive for real? i paid 8.00 in one of the most popular theaters around, how the heck can people afford it??? what about the popcorn/soda?
Popcorn/Soda is about $9 assuming they're not large.
Cost of living is pretty high up here-- not necessarily the highest in the country, but it's pretty nasty. I pay $1200/month in rent and have around 850 square feet (1br/1ba). Luckily the paychecks are pretty big as well... not that it makes a difference.

OMG, it's good you get paid well, but HELLO, how they expect people to make it, I pay 1200 a month for 5 bedroom, full size basement, 2 car garage home, and I thought that was good for the space I have...............that's highway robbery though for real....how much is gas in your area, 2.59 average here in Kentucky
I pay only around $2.05 for gas.
Salaries in general are higher up here. Our state minimum wage is around $9/hr, while the national is what, $6.25? But it does suck for people who are hard on their luck.

that big of a difference, in minimum wage, it's like 7.25 here.......and cheaper gas too, funny how it can be cheaper in some places, and HIGHER in others....doesnt make sense.....
14.50!!!!! That's higher than our IMAX 3D movies here in Toronto, AND I'M TALKING CANADIAN DOLLARS!!! That really sucks.
Oh this movie is more or less garbage. It's just a true story turned fairy tale and doesn't even touch on any of the true story/subject. Little Miss Sandra Bullock was terrible, and this movie is far from a must see in my opinion; it's a must miss.
wow, guess it's a matter of opinion, I loved it and so did my bf!!!! I didnt know the true story of him, until I saw the movie and did some research, seems pretty close to what I read....it was sold out tonight, and results were overwhelming on people liking it :) thanks for your response , sorry you didnt like it!
Well I'm not saying that people can't enjoy it. I'm glad that you did. I'm just saying that it was not the story of Oher. It was the story of a writer who has heard of Oher. Also, I'm saying that Sandra Bullock sucks and I don't get why people cast her.
i understand what you are saying, seems like from what I read it was pretty close to actual facts..........i like sandra bullock, so I cant say she didnt do a good job in this movie, i think the accent was a bit much, lol
The writer was actually a friend of Sean Tuohy's and interviewed Oher for the story. It's not simply the story of a writer who heard about Oher, it's the story written about Oher. I haven't seen the movie so I don't know how far it strays from the book but the book is pretty close to how it actually happened and is only half about Michael Oher the other half is about the evolution of the football offense after the impact of the new breed of blind side pass rushers and the left tackle. I can't speak for the movie but I can for the book and it was definitely a good read.
Than I'm very very disappointed to hear that. Michael Lewis did an amazing job with the book and it's a shame it wasn't depicted as well as it should have been.
